‣29/04/2020 Bob Hendrikx Notes on Soundtrack: LA LUNA (1979)
Director: Bernardo Bertolucci link
Certified in Italy on 25 July 1979. jpg
Premiered in Italy on 29 August 1979. link

LA LUNA hardly contains any music which can be attributed to Ennio Morricone.
All we hear is some incidental music by him at the beginning of the film.
No mention of Morricone in the opening and closing credits of the movie.

And yet Ennio Morricone clearly states:
"I find Bertolucci to be one of the best Italian movie directors of all times. After PRIMA DELLA RIVOLUZIONE (1964), I made PARTNER in 1968, then NOVECENTO in 1976, which I consider his masterpiece. Lastly, I worked with him on two other films, which I found very peculiar: LA LUNA (1979) and LA TRAGEDIA DI UN UOMO RIDICOLO (1981)."
(In His Own Words, page 56)

Why would Morricone say he scored LA LUNA when it contains virtually none of his music?
It looks like only a fraction of the music he wrote for the film survived in the end.
