Notes on Soundtrack: ¡ÁTAME! (1989) (Part 2)
Ennio Morricone (in 2016) about director Pedro Almodóvar:
"He attended every session in Rome. The problem was that he would always tell me: 'All right'. No hint of enthusiasm, warmth or engagement. Everything was just 'All right'. I even started suspecting that he was depressed, since he did not seem to enjoy anything in particular.
We met again some years later in Berlin, where we were both to accept an award. I asked him: 'Tell me the truth, did you like my music for TIE ME UP! TIE ME DOWN! or not'. He didn't let me finish the question before exclaiming with great enthusiasm: 'I loved it so much'. And then he burst into laughter. Who knows, perhaps he didn't even remember the music. To this day, I am still in doubt as to whether he liked it or not. His overemphatic 'so much' didn't convince me."
